Dear Neighbors and Friends,
After evaluating the candidates running in ANC 1B12, I am enthusiastically endorsing Mike Singer for Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner. Mike is campaigning for my old ANC seat, which represents U Street. I have been lucky to see first-hand the skills and passion, which will make him an effective and responsive ANC Commissioner.
As Chair of the ANC 1B Public Safety Committee, Mike played an instrumental role in launching several initiatives, such as a community clean day and public safety summit that brought together local and federal agencies and regional partners to discuss crime prevention. Mike is excellent as a problem-solver, negotiator, and leader.
Our constituents deserve nothing less, and I am confident Mike can effectively serve our best interests as ANC Commissioner.
Please check out his website at www.mike4anc.com and follow his campaign on social media. Mike will be sending a separate email introducing himself. I hope he can earn your support and vote!
John Carlos Green
Former ANC Commissioner, 1B12
Former Vice Chair, ANC 1B
I am Mike Singer, and I am working to be your next ANC Commissioner. We are in the home stretch of this election, and I wanted to send everyone a quick a campaign update. I have recently been endorsed by John C. Green, two-term ANC 1B12 Commissioner and Vice-Chair of ANC 1B! John set the bar for inclusive, responsive leadership in our district and I will strive to offer the same leadership.
I was gratified this weekend while out and about with signs, flyers, and door hangers to discover several voters who were happy to chat about the campaign and meet the “man behind the mask.” In discussions with voters, the primary frustration I heard are issues they have raised are not being adequately addressed. Being an effective ANC commissioner is exceedingly difficult to do on a part-time basis. Our residents need an advocate who can help facilitate resolution with city agencies. My unique status as an early retiree will allow me to ADVOCATE FOR YOU! I’m incredibly fortunate to retire early and have the time to focus on fighting for and solving critical issues facing our district.
I served on ANC 1B's public safety committee, where I helped establish a strong relationship with the 3rd District MPD. I am a proven community leader and am eager to continue this work for our community.
A little more about me:
I live with my beautiful wife Susan, recently rescued pit bull Guinness, and two cats, Trouble and Bella.
I have recently retired early from an IT leadership role for Willis Towers Watson. I began this 30 plus career after graduating from Georgetown University. At Willis, I earned a reputation for team building and problem-solving. As your ANC Commissioner, I will bring these skills to negotiating with developers on affordable housing, ensuring businesses can thrive while being good neighbors, and getting needed resources to our district to address public safety concerns.
